In terms of what’s going on in the Clean Energy world, last year according to figures coming from our colleagues at Bloomberg, Clean Energy Finance, and others it was a record year in terms of investment. If policy priority for Clean Energy is well placed  worldwide, investment in Clean Power assets alone could potentially reach $2.3trillion over 2010 2020 period. So there is a lot of potential here and the story so far could be seen to be fairly good. There is an appetite out there for investing in Clean Economy. (Soundbites from okra eXpress event, June, 2011).

Investment potential in Clean Energy the story continues.

What’s going on in the Clean Energy worldGrowth Trend for Clean Energy investment. Record year in terms of investment. (Sound bites from okra eXpress event, June 2011)

Ø  In 2010, total investment in Clean Energy reached a record $243 billion representing a 30% annual increase

Ø Europe doubled its investment to $94.4 billion

Ø  In China investment grew by c40%

Ø  Investment in the US rebounded 51% to reach $34billion

Ø  Argentina achieved 568% and Mexico - 273& growth

Overall, the amount of investment going into this area is outstanding. There is an appetite for Clean Energy investment. There is a mountain or a wall of capital or cash out there to invest in areas such as renewable, and Clean Energy. A lot of these capitals is not coming from governments. It’s actually potentially coming from the private sector. The capital markets essentially. Institutional investors. If you look at pension fundsinsuranace funds, and mutual funds alone, the linstitutional funds and public pension funds are over $560 of assets under management. So that’s a huge amount of money there looking for homes constantly to turn over and looking for areas to invest in. (Soundbites from okra eXpress event, June 2011). The race is on. Win - win?
