okra eXpress would like to express deep regret at the recent bomb attacks that killed almost forty people and injured many more in the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Christmas day. okra eXpress cuts across eighty countries in five continents and Nigeria is one of them. okra eXpress has very close links in Nigeria. Former World Bank, Managing Director, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a modest professional was appointed by the President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, in July 2011 as the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was the Managing Director of World Bank (October 2007 - July 2011) and has also held the position of a Finance Minister and Foreign Minister of Nigeria between 2003 and 2006. She is notable for being the first woman to hold either of those positions. She served as finance minister from July 2003 until her appointment as foreign minister in June 2006, and as foreign minister until her resignation in August 2006. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was considered as a possible replacement for former World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was educated at Harvard University, (graduating magna cum laude - meaning "with high distinction - with high honor), with an A.B. in 1977, and earned her Ph.D. in urban and regional planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a wife and a mother of four children. Her son, Uzodinma Iweala, a Nigerian - American, Harvard-educated writer, is the author of the critically acclaimed novel Beast of the Nation. He regularly advises the Nigerian National Petroleum Company in contractual disputes as well advising the Nigerian government on the legal consequences of corrupt or tainted contracts He has been called as an expert witness several times in cases involving Nigerian Law. He has worked in jurisdictions as disparate as Germany, Cayman Islands, Nigeria, Malawi and Tanzania. He has also undertaken work for the DTI, including insolvent trading and directors disqualification. He has prosecuted regularly for H.M Revenue & Customs in the UK.
