Sir Geoffrey has lectured worldwide on aspects of international law. He was the Lead Prosecutor in the Milosevic case. Sir Geoffrey Nice QC, prosecuted Slobodan Milosevic at the war crimes tribunal, the United Nations International Criminal Tribunals for the Former Yugoslavian (ICTY) in the Hague. Gelaga King of Sierra Leone is a Judge in West Africa and currently a Justice at the United Nation's backed Special Court for Sierra Leone. Justice George Gelaga King has been President of Sierra Leone Court of Appeal and of Court of Appeal of the Gambia. He served as Sierra Leone's Ambassador to France, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland from 1974 to 1978, and at the same time Sierra Leone's Permanent Representative to UNESCO. Between 1978 and 1980 he served as Sierra Leone's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Justice Gelaga King taught law at the Sierra Leone Law School from 1990 to 2005. He is Chairman of both the Sierra Leone Legal Education. He is a fellow of Royal Soeciety of Arts. (About the UN backed, Special Court for Sierra Leone: The Former President of Liberia, Charles Taylor's trial is held in the Hague, not by the International Criminal Court (ICC) but by a United Nations backed Special Court for Sierra Leone, to allow victims of these alleged crimes against humanity to see peace and justice at work. Charles Taylor is accused of war crimes having financed brutal civil war through "blood diamonds". The Charles Taylor case was moved to the International Criminal Court, ICC, in the Hague, for fear of fresh instability in Sierra Leone and Liberia. Before the transfer, a court in Sierra Leone heard the 11 charges against the former President of Liberia, Charles Taylor, including war crimes, crimes against humanities). Justice King has been a Judge of the United Ntaions Special Court for Sierra Leone since December 2002. He was president of the court from 2006 to 2008, re-elected to two one-year terms. The Appeals Court Judges also selected Justice Emmanuel Ayoola of Nigeria as Vice-President of the court at the same time Justice George Gelaga King, was reelected as president of the United Nations backed, Special Court for Sierra Leone. Justice George Gelaga King, successed Justice Renate Winter of Austria, who was appointed by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban ki-Mon.
